Christian Louboutin was invited by Disney to reimagine the fairytale character's famous shoes in honour of the release of 'Cinderella' Blu-ray Diamond Edition in August.
Louboutin’s rendition is a pair of limited edition, red-soled 120-millimeter heels displaied for the first time on July 4 in Paris.
Instead of the solid glass he evoked lightness using white lace and sparkling Swarovski crystals and candid Butterflies.
He explained - Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairytale love, but also shoes. Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale.”
there is a short Disney clip about the making of the shoe, where Louboutin plays a romantic, pensive cobbler, in the six-minute film, he is under a tight deadline to finish Cinderella’s shoe, and as the clock ticks, friendly animals come to help him find inspiration in the dead of night. He finds it when he observes a modern-day Cinderella hard at work, dreaming of a better life.
